About STARTUPS:
The South Tampa Bay Area Transportation Partnership
(STARTUPS) is a privately funded regional coalition established to ensure that
the region receives additional transportation revenues in order to maintain a
strong economy and exceptional quality of life. The organization has
researched the efforts of similar private sector initiatives in high growth
areas statewide, enlisted the support of a team of transportation experts and
initiated a comprehensive, long-term effort to ensure that the region has a
strong and unified voice on transportation issues at the local, state, and
federal level.
STARTUPS membership includes a broad base of business and community leaders
working together for a common goal. In addition to the support of the
region's leading companies, the initiative is endorsed by the Sarasota and
Manatee Chambers of Commerce.
STARTUPS Objectives:
- Identify and pursue all sources of
funding options for local
transportation improvements
- Mobilize public and private
support for transportation projects
- Consult with all governmental entities
(federal, state and local) regarding
new enabling legislation and funding
- Monitor and provide input to the
Tampa Bay Partnership on
transportation projects and
priorities
- Promote public education and
awareness on transportation projects
- Monitor and provide leadership to
the Florida Department of
Transportation (FDOT), the
Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO),
and local governments on
